Family-Based Immigration
A U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) can sponsor a close family member to obtain an immigrant visa.
Applications are divided into:
Immediate relatives: (no visa limit): spouse, unmarried minor children, parents of U.S. citizens over 21 years old, and adopted orphans.
Family Preference: (with a visa limit): other eligible relatives.
